Ecclesiastes 10

OKÚ eṣinṣin o mu ororo-ikunra alapolu bajẹ ki o ma run õrùn buburu: bẹ̃ni wère diẹ wuwo jù ọgbọ́n ati ọlá lọ.

Dead flies cause the ointment of the apothecary to send forth a stinking savour: so doth a little folly him that is in reputation for wisdom and honour.

Aiya ọlọgbọ́n mbẹ li ọwọ ọtún rẹ̀; ṣugbọn aiya aṣiwère li ọwọ òsi rẹ̀.

A wise man's heart is at his right hand; but a fool's heart at his left.

Ati pẹlu nigbati ẹniti o ṣiwère ba nrìn li ọ̀na, ọgbọ́n rẹ̀ a fò lọ, on a si wi fun olukuluku enia pe aṣiwère li on.

Yea also, when he that is a fool walketh by the way, his wisdom faileth him, and he saith to every one that he is a fool.

Bi ọkàn ijoye ba ru si ọ, máṣe fi ipò rẹ silẹ; nitoripe itũbá ama tù ẹ̀ṣẹ nla.

If the spirit of the ruler rise up against thee, leave not thy place; for yielding pacifieth great offences.

Buburu kan mbẹ ti mo ri labẹ õrùn, bi ìṣina ti o ti ọdọ awọn ijoye wá.

There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, as an error which proceedeth from the ruler:

A gbe aṣiwère sipò ọlá, awọn ọlọrọ̀ si joko nipò ẹhin.

Folly is set in great dignity, and the rich sit in low place.

Mo ri awọn ọmọ-ọdọ lori ẹṣin, ati awọn ọmọ-alade nrìn bi ọmọ-ọdọ ni ilẹ.

I have seen servants upon horses, and princes walking as servants upon the earth.

Ẹniti o wà iho ni yio bọ́ sinu rẹ̀; ati ẹniti o si njá ọgbà tútù, ejo yio si bù u ṣán.

He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoso breaketh an hedge, a serpent shall bite him.

Ẹnikan ti o nyi okuta ni yio si ti ipa rẹ̀ ni ipalara; ati ẹniti o si nla igi ni yio si wu li ewu.

Whoso removeth stones shall be hurt therewith; and he that cleaveth wood shall be endangered thereby.

Bi irin ba kújú, ti on kò si pọn oju rẹ̀, njẹ ki on ki o fi agbara si i; ṣugbọn ère ọgbọ́n ni lati fi ọ̀na hàn.

If the iron be blunt, and he do not whet the edge, then must he put to more strength: but wisdom is profitable to direct.

Nitõtọ bi ejo ba bu ni ṣán lainitùju; njẹ ère kì yio si fun onitùju.

Surely the serpent will bite without enchantment; and a babbler is no better.

Ọ̀rọ ẹnu ọlọgbọ̀n li ore-ọfẹ; ṣugbọn ète aṣiwère ni yio gbe ara rẹ̀ mì.

The words of a wise man's mouth are gracious; but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself.

Ipilẹṣẹ ọ̀rọ ẹnu rẹ̀ ni wère: ati opin ọ̀rọ ẹnu rẹ̀ ni isinwin iparun.

The beginning of the words of his mouth is foolishness: and the end of his talk is mischievous madness.

Aṣiwère pẹlu kún fun ọ̀rọ pupọ: enia kò le sọ ohun ti yio ṣẹ; ati ohun ti yio wà lẹhin rẹ̀, tali o le wi fun u?

A fool also is full of words: a man cannot tell what shall be; and what shall be after him, who can tell him?

Lãla aṣiwère da olukuluku wọn li agara, nitoriti kò mọ̀ bi a ti lọ si ilu.

The labour of the foolish wearieth every one of them, because he knoweth not how to go to the city.

Egbé ni fun ọ, iwọ ilẹ, nigbati ọba rẹ ba ṣe ọmọde, ti awọn ọmọ-alade rẹ njẹun ni kutukutu.

Woe to thee, O land, when thy king is a child, and thy princes eat in the morning!

Ibukún ni fun ọ, iwọ ilẹ, nigbati ọba rẹ ba jẹ ọmọ ọlọlá, ti awọn ọmọ-alade rẹ njẹun li akoko ti o yẹ, fun ilera ti kì si iṣe fun ọti amupara!

Blessed art thou, O land, when thy king is the son of nobles, and thy princes eat in due season, for strength, and not for drunkenness!

Nipa ilọra pupọ igi ile a hù; ati nipa ọlẹ ọwọ, ile a si ma jò.

By much slothfulness the building decayeth; and through idleness of the hands the house droppeth through.

Ẹrín li a nsàse fun, ati ọti-waini ni imu inu alãye dùn: owo si ni idahùn ohun gbogbo.

A feast is made for laughter, and wine maketh merry: but money answereth all things.

Máṣe bu ọba, ki o má ṣe ninu èro rẹ; máṣe bu ọlọrọ̀ ni iyẹwu rẹ; nitoripe ẹiyẹ oju-ọrun yio gbe ohùn na lọ, ohun ti o ni iyẹ-apá yio si sọ ọ̀ran na.

Curse not the king, no not in thy thought; and curse not the rich in thy bedchamber: for a bird of the air shall carry the voice, and that which hath wings shall tell the matter.
